Mona is vaguely, wondering what the end of it all will be. And then at last the silence is broken. "Yes, father," said Morning Star, "a young man has come to see you. He is a good young man, for he found some of my things in the trail and did not touch them." "Is he dead?" she asks, in a whisper, pointing without looking at their late foe. Rodney, stooping, lays his hand on the ruffian's heart. She doesn't want in the very least to know who he is, but thinks it her duty to say something, as the silence being protracted grows embarrassing..
