Gaily he strutted after his little mistress. Bringing up the rear came Moses shuffling along, accompanied by Jethro. He took from his pocket a huge bun. “Wharfmaster, ahoy!” Billy hailed, as they came near the water’s edge. “Is all ship-shape?” “What else did they do ’sides dancing, Betty?” questioned St. Elmo. Mrs. Wopp leaning towards a lady on her right inquired, “Do you know Mis’ Stephens, why Joe Avery is not dancin’ this evenin’. Ever sence we come into this here barn he has never moved from his seat.”.
