"Doubtless. I hardly anticipated an easy task when I undertook to learn who killed my dear lad. Besides, David will help me." "Why do you speak of her?" asked Maurice, fiercely, while David looked loweringly at Etwald. "I think so, major--for half-an-hour, at least!".

"Found it this mornin' down by the pine grove near old Scroggie's ha'nted house. Stood on this side of the creek an' sent ol' Moll into the grove. She brought it to me. She's a great little dog, Moll. Now we're ready to hunt ol' Scroggie's buried money an' lost will."I tried logging in using my phone number and I
was supposed to get a verification code text, but didn't
get it. I clicked resend a couple time, tried the "call
me instead" option twice but didn't get a call
either. the trouble shooting had no info on if the call
me instead fails.There was
"I cannot, madam."

You owe it to your dead brother's memory--for assuredly Maurice was your brother." "Neither did I, if I remember rightly," said Etwald, dryly, "Besides, Dido--as you proved--did not steal the devil-stick. However, if you are suspicious of her, go over to-morrow and see Mrs. Dallas. It will be as well to be sure of your ground before making a public affair of it. By the way, I suppose you will have a detective down from London, to sift the affair to the bottom?" "No, no, no! I would rather die. I love Maurice.".
